Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) Sponsors that operated the SFSP in 2021 must complete the SFSP Renewal on the Child Nutrition Management System (CNMS). The renewal is now available, and it is expected that all experienced sponsors will log in and submit the renewal on-line and send any additional required information via email to their program representative. Your program representative is available to assist you with this process.
To begin the Renewal on-line:
Go to http://www.cn.nysed.gov
Click on “Log In”,
Log in with your User Name and Password,
Click “I Agree” to agree to the terms listed,
Put your cursor on “Program” on the toolbar,
Click on “SFSP Renewal”, Click on “Find”
At the top of the renewal screen, there is a link to directions on how to complete the annual renewal and a link to information on available waivers.
Submission Deadline: June 15, 2022
To ensure that your renewal is processed prior to program operations, the New York State Education Department (SED) has established a submission deadline of June 15, 2022. Renewals received after the deadline may be denied.
All required sections of the renewal and other required applicable documents must be completed and submitted to SED in a timely manner. Refer to the SFSP Sponsor Renewal Checklist to ensure all required documents are included with your submission. Documents may be e-mailed to either the SFSP mailbox at CNSFSP@nysed.gov or to your program representative.
Upon SED’s receipt of your renewal, this office will contact you within 15 days to notify you of missing, incorrect and/or inaccurate information. In the event that you fail to provide this office with the required information to complete your renewal within the timeframe specified by SED, your renewal will be deemed abandoned and therefore will not be subject to further processing or consideration for participation in the 2022 SFSP. Upon receipt of a complete and correct renewal, SED will issue notification regarding the approval or denial within 30 days. Meals served prior to the approval date are not eligible for reimbursement.
Sponsors Operating Camp Sites
The deadline for New Site Information Sheets for camp sites as well as all session dates is June 1, 2022.
Camp Permit Dates of Operation
Camps must obtain a valid CAMP PERMIT from the local Department of Health and submit a copy to SED prior to submitting a claim for reimbursement. Meals served outside the dates identified on the camp permit cannot be claimed.
Eligibility/Enrollment Deadlines for Camp Sites
Sponsors of camp sites are required to maintain accurate and up to date coded rosters to support eligibility of their sites. All eligibility documentation to include the coded roster and household income applications, must be maintained at each site, in a secure location, and available for review at all times during the operation of the program. Sponsors must submit final figures for enrollment and the number of income eligible children for each site by the following deadlines:
- For sites/sessions beginning on or before July 19, 2022, no later than July 24, 2022.
- For sites/sessions beginning on or after July 20, 2022, no later than five calendar days after the session start date.

Civil Rights Training
The Civil Rights training presentation is available on our website. Kindly ensure this is included when conducting your own trainings. Civil Rights training is required so that people involved in all levels of administration of programs that receive Federal financial funding understand civil rights related laws, regulations, procedures, and directives. This training is required annually.
