Alliance Smart Snacks Calculator for Food Sold to Students in School

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) would like to make you aware of an important new tool which is available to assist program operators with the July 1, 2014, implementation of the interim final rule titled, “National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program: Nutrition Standards for All Foods Sold in School as Required by the Healthy, Hunger - Free Kids Act of 2010.”  The Alliance for a Healthier Generation has developed an online Smart Snacks Product Calculator. FNS has thoroughly reviewed this tool and has determined it to be accurate in assessing food product compliance with the federal requirements for Smart Snacks in Schools. We are currently exploring options for providing a similar tool for beverages.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
