Celebrating Child Nutrition Programs in October

October is an exciting month for Child Nutrition Programs!

October is National Farm to School Month and the week of October 10th-14th is National School Lunch Week with the theme Peace, Love & School Lunch!

Also during October is the Big Apple Crunch Event where we come together to foster farm-to-school connections and celebrate the locally grown apple harvest. SED will be participating in the Big Apple Crunch on October 13th and hopes that your SFA celebrates the event too.

The Office of Child Nutrition would love to hear the ways our SFAs are celebrating this month and would like to highlight them on our CN Spotlight! Let us know what activities and special menus your SFA is planning by emailing us at Be sure to include photos!
