The Healthier US Challenge (HUSSC)

The Healthier US School Challenge (HUSSC) is an initiative developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in order to recognize schools that are creating a healthier school environment by promoting good nutrition and physical activity.
The challenge is a key component of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!,” initiative incorporating HUSSC into her campaign to raise a healthier generation of kids.
There are four levels of achievement that are awarded: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold of Distinction.
The USDA and NYSED are encouraging all eligible schools in New York State to apply for this prestigious award.
For more information on the Healthier US School Challenge and to access the application please visit USDA’s website by clicking the following link:

For questions regarding the application process, please contact your Child Nutrition Representative at 518-473-8781 or email cnhussc@mail.nysed.gov.
