Big Apple Crunch: October 26, 2023

In partnership with the FarmOn! Foundation, the New York State Education Department (SED) Child Nutrition Program Office invites schools to take part in the Big Apple Crunch on October 26, 2023. 

The Big Apple Crunch takes place in October of each year, inviting New Yorkers to take a bite out of an apple grown in New York to celebrate the apple harvest and to inspire us all to Eat Local.  

Join SED in fostering farm-to-school connections by participating in your own Big Apple Crunch!

SFAs that cannot participate in the Big Apple Crunch on October 26th may choose any day in October to celebrate.

SED would like to recognize and highlight the SFAs participating in and hosting a Crunch.   

Let us know the date of your Big Apple Crunch and be sure to send your Crunch pictures to farm2school@nysed.gov . SED may feature your SFA on the CN Spotlight or our Farm to School Page.

Posting on social media? Be sure to include the #BigAppleCrunch and #CrunchChallenge hashtags when posting to your school’s social media account and tag the New York State Education Department.

Big Apple Crunch Banners 

SED is offering FREE Big Apple Crunch Banners to School Food Authorities (SFAs) participating in the Crunch.

Banners must be ordered by October 1, 2023, by completing this form and emailing to farm2school@nysed.gov.
